"Self Sufficiency Economy" Cha-uat distrit, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

 

 

Taking ownership we are obliged to involve ourselves assisting the community of Cha-uat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat in “Self-sufficiency economy from business levels to common lifestyle by contributing and changing to a better, healthier and more civilized lifestyle. Supporting and dealing with poverty and uneducated situations by creating opportunities and facilities to assist the community.

 

We therefore need to upgrade to a modest society level to compare equal to the advanced and modern world of today. We are a peaceful, friendly and civilized nation and proud of our culture. We at Cha-uat district, Nakhon Si Thammarat will be helping our people with “self-sufficiency economy”; we need not to change our culture but to modernize it as to compare with the modest world we live in.

 

The Thai government’s Public Relations Department has used the post-coup period to put out a continuous stream of reporting and commentary on “self-sufficiency economy”.  Recently they have devoted some attention to a small island off the coast of Phuket where “villagers… live today in happiness under the principle of self-sufficiency economy”. According to a recent report:

 

Showing strength in their community, the Koh Maphrao village is selected as one of Phuket’s pioneer villages to successfully practice self-sufficiency economies. Recently it received a budget of 200,000 baht to maintain and extend the career group within the community. This comprises home stay facilities and activities for housewives to earn extra income: “We unite and cooperate well among the local community.” The Koh Maphrao Village is another good example of living in Thai lifestyle with self-sufficiency economy as pioneered by His Majesty the King.

 

As we will be following in their footsteps, supporting our community by means of radio programs schooling them to “self-sufficiency economy”. We are also obliged to assist our community with ideas of successful small business trade by means of radio programs, broad casting and our website. We will also lodge programs on the radio at a daily basis for teaching in the subject of "Basic English" as there is a big demand. Most of our businesses today requires for us to communicate with the foreigner. As English has become a very important language to our society.
